Three Nittany Lions Honored With All-Big Ten Awards

Kling, Porter, Wagner earn All-Big Ten accolades

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Three members of the Penn State baseball team earned All-Big Ten honors on Tuesday. Junior outfielder Paxton Kling was named All-Big Ten first team and Big Ten All-Defensive Team. Redshirt sophomore designated hitter Jack Porter was tabbed second-team All-Big Ten. Graduate student Cole Wagner earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

 

Kling is Penn State’s first All-Big Ten first team selection since catcher Matt Wood in 2022. Kling is the program’s 17th All-Big Ten first team honoree.

 

 

Paxton Kling · Jr. · OF · 6-2 · 210 · Roaring Spring, Pa. · Central

  • Was named to the All-Big Ten first-team and Big Ten All-Defensive team.
  • Ranked as the No. 143 prospect in the 2025 MLB Draft by MLB Pipeline and the No. 79 college draft prospect in the 2025 MLB Draft by D1Baseball.
  • Named Perfect Game National Player of the Week (2/26).
  • Tabbed Big Ten Player of the Week (2/24).
  • In his collegiate career, Kling has made 171 appearances and 114 starts with a .294 average, 123 hits, 27 doubles, four triples and 18 homers. He has collected 83 RBI, 116 runs, 25 steals and 70 walks, while posting a .426 on-base percentage and a .506 slugging percentage.
  • In 2025, he owns team highs in batting average (.340), hits (69), runs (60), slugging percentage (.616) and OPS (1.065), while tying for the team high in homers (13) and adding 53 RBI.
  • Kling has a .353 average and 28 RBI in Big Ten play.
  • His 60 runs rank fourth in a season at PSU and his 13 homers are tied for seventh.

  • Porter was named All-Big Ten second team as a designated hitter.
  • In 2025, Porter is batting .310 with 57 hits, 38 RBI and 44 runs.
  • Has tallied 14 doubles and 10 homers.
  • Posted a .549 slugging percentage and a .408 on-base percentage.
  • Porter reached base in 30-straight games from February 15-April 6.
  • In Big Ten play, Porter batted .331 with 11 doubles, eight homers and 30 RBI.

 

 

Cole Wagner · Gr. · 1B/OF · 6-0 · 200 · Lewisberry, Pa. · Red Land

  • Wagner earned the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
  • Earned a graduate certificate in Business Management Foundations.
  • In his collegiate career, Wagner has played in 124 games and made 106 starts.
  • He has tallied 102 hits with 17 doubles, two triples, 16 homers, 71 RBI and 74 runs.
  • Wagner has 26 multi-hit games and 16 multi-RBI games in his career.
  • In 2025, Wagner is batting .292 with 38 hits, nine doubles, two triples, four homers, 27 RBI, 27 runs and 11 steals.

 

Penn State, led by head coach Mike Gambino, begins Big Ten Tournament Presented by IFS.ai play on Wednesday against No. 5 seed Washington at 3 p.m. PSU enters the tournament as the No. 9 seed.

 

The Nittany Lions take on No. 4 seed USC on Thursday at 3 p.m.

 

The Big Ten Tournament is being played at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha with all games broadcasted on Big Ten Network.

 

Penn State is 31-22 this season (15-15 Big Ten) after earning a series win over Xavier. PSU reached the 30-win mark for the first time since 2011.

 

In Big Ten play, PSU won five Big Ten series in a season for the first time since 2012 and won three Big Ten road series for the first time since 2012. Its 15 Big Ten wins are its most since 2012 (not counting a Big Ten-only schedule in 2021).

 

Penn State had a .500 or better record in Big Ten games in back-to-back seasons for the sixth time in program history.

 

The Nittany Lions’ eight Big Ten road wins this season are its most since 2007 (9).
