Dunn rounds out 2025-26 Lady Lions coaching staff

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Head coach of Lady Lions basketball Carolyn Kieger adds her final assistant coach to her staff heading into the 2025-16 campaign. Bob Dunn joins Kieger’s staff as a 19-year industry veteran, serving at several institutions in various roles throughout his career.

I’m confident he will make an immediate impact on our student-athletes and help elevate our staff.”

Dunn arrives in Happy Valley after spending one season as an assistant coach at Cleveland State. The 2024-25 campaign marked Dunn’s third season with the Vikings but first since 2022-23. Dunn helped guide Cleveland State to a historic season this past year, finishing with a 27-10 record while advancing to the WNIT Fab 4. The 27 wins for the Vikings amounted to the third-most wins in a single-season in program history. The squad finished third in the Horizon League, winning 14 conference games throughout the year.

The coaching veteran spent one season as an assistant coach at Miami in 2023-24, where he was primarily focused on scouting and analytics. In his one-year stint with the Hurricanes, he helped the team to a 19-12 overall record and an ACC Tournament Quarterfinal appearance.

Prior to his year in Coral Gables, Dunn spent two seasons at Cleveland State where he served as an assistant coach from 2021-2023. During his time with the Vikings, he helped guide the team to two strong seasons, finishing with a 53-14 record throughout his time as an assistant, including a 30-5 mark in 2022-23, marking the most wins in a single season in program history. In 2023, the Vikings won their third Horizon League Championship while Dunn helped mentor Destiny Leo, the Horizon League Player of the Year.

In his first season at Cleveland State, Dunn assisted in the Vikings’ second 20-win campaign over a three-year span. Dunn was a part of the CSU coaching staff that led the team to the Horizon League Championship and two back-to-back postseason appearances.

Dunn spent six seasons as an assistant coach and international recruiter at George Mason prior to his seasons at CSU. During his time with the Patriots, he helped develop back-to-back A-10 Players of the Year while also guiding the team to the most wins in a single-season in program history during the 2017-18 campaign. On top of his duties as an assistant coach, Dunn also severed as the scheduling and scouting coordinator while also assisting as the academic liaison.

His first collegiate coaching opportunity came at Wagner College where he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. During his time at Wagner, he helped develop Jasmine Nwajei would finish the 2014-15 regular season as the NCAA leading scorer.

Dunn spent two seasons as the video coordinator at Kentucky with the women’s basketball program. Throughout his two seasons, the Wildcats advanced to back-to-back SEC Championship games and made it to the NCAA Elite Eight and Sweet 16 in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

Dunn earned his undergraduate (2010) and graduate (2011) degrees from Dayton where he served as a men’s basketball student manager, graduate assistant and video coordinator.
