Franklin, Allar, Dawkins and Wheatley Set to Represent Penn State at 2025 Big Ten Football Media Days

Penn State will participate in the annual kickoff event at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas on July 23

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State head coach James Franklin, senior quarterback Drew Allar, redshirt senior offensive lineman Nick Dawkins and redshirt senior safety Zakee Wheatley are set to represent Penn State at Big Ten Football Media Days in Las Vegas on Wednesday, July 23.

 

This year’s event, held at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, will once again feature a three-day format, July 22-24, with Big Ten Network providing coverage all three days.

 

QB Drew Allar

  • Allar ranks first all-time at Penn State in completion percentage (62.9) and interception percentage (1.19), third in touchdown passes (53) and passing efficiency (144.0), fifth in completions (530), tied for fifth in 200-yard passing games (16), sixth in passing yardage (6,302) and passing attempts (843), tied for ninth in yards per attempt (7.5) and 10th in touchdown pass percentage (6.28).
  • Among Penn State quarterbacks, he ranks tied for sixth in school history in rushing touchdowns (11) and 10th in rushing yards (543).
  • Allar stands fourth all-time at PSU in touchdowns responsible for (64) and fifth in total offense (6,862).
  • Since 1956, Allar joins Bryce Petty (Baylor, 2011-14) as the only FBS quarterbacks with 800+ career pass attempts, 50+ touchdown passes and 10 or less interceptions.
  • He owns 17 career games with multiple touchdown passes, 10 games with three or more and two games with four or more.
  • Allar has three career 300-yard passing games and 16 200-yard passing games.

 

OL Nick Dawkins

  • Dawkins won the Allstate Wuerffel Trophy in 2024, considered college football’s premier award for community service.
  • Founded the Dawkins Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering communities through youth engagement. The foundation has awarded three scholarships to high school seniors and collaborates with the Lehigh Valley YMCA and Big Brothers Big Sisters to provide book bags for children and teens in need.
  • Dawkins has interned with the YMCA of Centre County, where he developed a multi-sports camp and an Olympic Games camp as part of the YMCA’s summer youth programming. Additionally, he volunteers at Parkland sports camps.
  • He garnered All-Big Ten honorable mention honors by the media and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors (third time in his career) during the 2024 season.
  • A team captain, Dawkins started all 16 games at center in 2024, allowing just two sacks on the season.

 

S Zakee Wheatley

  • Wheatley has a hand nine takeaways (5 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 forced fumbles).
  • He was voted All-Big Ten honorable mention by the media during the 2024 season.
  • Wheatley started all 16 games at safety and finished with 96 tackles (58 solo), 2.5 tackles for loss, three interceptions, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and four pass breakups.
  • He finished tied for sixth in the Big Ten in interceptions (3).
