UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State cross country team has announced its 2025 schedule, including one regular-season home meet on Sept. 12 in Happy Valley.
“Heading into the fall of 2025, this is the most excited the staff has been about a cross country season in a long time,” said head coach John Gondak. “We return the core of both teams that had a lot of success last year with the women finishing 15th at the NCAA finals and the men advancing an individual to the finals for the first time since 2017. We also add some outstanding recruits who should contribute right away. Our schedule is set up to maximize our competition during the regular season and prepare us for championship time.”
Penn State opens the 2025 season on Sept. 5 when the Nittany Lions head to Lock Haven for the annual Dolan Duals. Penn State returns to Happy Valley on Sept. 12 to host its lone home meet of the year when the Nittany Lions host the Spiked Shoe Invitational.
Penn State heads to Lehigh’s Paul Short Run on Oct. 3. The Nittany Lion women will travel to Wisconsin’s Nuttycombe Invitational on Oct. 17, while the NCAA Pre-National Invitational will take place on Oct. 18 at Missouri.
The 2025 Big Ten Championship meet is slated for Oct. 31 at Michigan State. NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals will be held at Lehigh on Nov. 14, while the NCAA Cross Country Championships are slated for Nov. 22 at Missouri.
The Nittany Lions are coming off a highly-successful 2024 campaign as the women’s team finish 15th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, its highest finish since 2012. The women also boasted three top-100 runners, its most at the national meet since that same 2012 year. Brian DiCola advanced to the NCAA Cross Country Championships on the men’s side, becoming the highest Nittany Lion finisher at the national championship meet since 2013.
