UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - No. 7/6 Penn State meets UCLA on Saturday for its first Big Ten road contest of the 2025 campaign. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. on CBS.
SERIES HISTORY: Penn State meets UCLA for the eighth time in program history. PSU trails the series, 4-3, and is 1-2 in road matchups. However, Penn State won its last road matchup in the series, 21-6, in 1968. Last year, Penn State earned a 27-11 win. Drew Allar threw for 237 yards and a touchdown and added a rushing touchdown, while Kaytron Allen added 78 rushing yards and a score.
TACKLE MACHINE: Linebacker Amare Campbell added to an impressive start to his 2025 campaign with a career-high 15 tackles (8 solo) against Oregon. He tallied 11 tackles in the first half. He also had a career-high three tackles for loss and one sack against Villanova. Campbell has been Penn State's leading tackler in three of four games this season. Through four games, he ranks fifth in the Big Ten in total tackles (37), while tying for the Big Ten lead with 24 solo tackles (tied-ninth nationally). He sits third in the nation averaging six solo tackles per game and 22nd in total tackles per game (9.3).
ROSS MAKES CLUTCH PLAYS: Wide Receiver Devonte Ross had a pair of clutch catches in the fourth quarter of Penn State's battle against Oregon. Early in the fourth quarter, Ross hauled in a 35-yard touchdown grab to help bring PSU within seven points. In the final minute of regulation, Ross took a short pass for seven yards into the end zone to help send the game into overtime. Ross leads PSU with three receiving touchdowns this season, including a 42-yard touchdown against FIU.
ALLEN SCORES IN FOURTH-STRAIGHT GAME: With a 4-yard touchdown rush in overtime against Oregon, Kaytron Allen has scored on a rushing touchdown in all four games this season. He has scored on runs of 12, 67, 18 and 4 yards this year. Allen sits 11th in the nation averaging 7.11 yards per carry and has nine rushes of 10+ yards on the year.
THE OPPOSITION: UCLA is 0-4 this season after dropping its Big Ten opener against Northwestern, 17-14, last Saturday in Evanston. The Bruins closed out the game with 14 unanswered points, but the Wildcats held on for the win. Nico Iamaleava threw for 180 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 65 yards. UCLA recorded seven tackles for loss on defense.
