BOSTON – The Atlantic Hockey Association named Penn State women’s ice hockey senior Katie DeSa Goaltender of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. It is the 10th time in her career receiving the award, and the first time this season.

DeSa continued from where she left off a season ago, leading the Nittany Lions to two ranked wins this past weekend over No. 9 St. Lawrence. She posted a 15-save shutout on Thursday evening, making five of those against the Saints’ power play. The shutout was the 14th of her career. On Friday afternoon, DeSa faced 23 shots, saving 21. Three of those stops came on the power play late in the third period to stave off St. Lawrence’s comeback bid.

DeSa and the Nittany Lions return to action this weekend, beginning a two-game series at Vermont on Friday, October 3. Game one will begin at 6:00 p.m. and puck drop for game two on Saturday, October 4 is set for 2:00 p.m.
