UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State women’s basketball announces a more permanent return to its former home, Rec Hall. The Lady Lions will play multiple games in Rec Hall throughout the 2025-26 with specific designations to be announced at a later date.
After making a 'Return to Rec Hall' once a year for the previous two seasons, Penn State will add more games to its schedule to be played inside its former home throughout the 2025-26 season. The historic venue that plays host to multiple of Penn State’s high caliber programs was the permanent home of the Lady Lions from 1979-96. The first women’s basketball game to be played inside Rec Hall was on March 24, 1976, a AIAW Tournament contest against Delta State. The team played off-and-on inside the building as an alternate venue until making the indefinite move over for the 1979-80 campaign.
Rec Hall holds a significant amount of Penn State women’s basketball history. Throughout the nearly two decades at their home court, the Lady Lions boasted four undefeated home seasons and a renowned sellout game against Iowa. This contest was the first nationally televised PSU basketball game in Rec Hall as the team played in front of a sellout crowd of 7,264 on Feb. 6 1994 for their “Pack the Track” game.
