UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s Ryan Merk and Owen Rose are headed to the final of the NORCECA Men’s Final Six in Ponce, Puerto Rico after the U.S. Men’s National Team posted a 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 15-13) win over Mexico in the semifinal round Saturday.
Merk split time at libero and finished with six digs in the semifinal win. Rose contributed two kills, one block, and one dig. USA advanced to the gold medal round, where it takes on host Puerto Rico at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday.
After losing its opening match of round-robin play to Mexico, USA has posted five-straight wins, defeating Canada, Dominican Republic, Suriname, Puerto Rico, and now Mexico in the rematch.
USA is looking to win the event for the third-straight year.
