Women's Golf Concludes Fall Slate in Virginia Beach for 2025 Evie Odom Invitational

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Penn State women's golf team is back in action as they hit the road for the Evie Odom Invitational hosted by Old Dominion University at the Princess Anne Country Club this week.

The tournament will feature three single round days beginning Friday morning with split tee times starting at 9 a.m.

The Nittany Lions will be part of the first six groups off the opening hole from 9 a.m. through 9:50 a.m. and be paired with Furman and North Florida during Thursday’s opening round.

THE TEAM

  • The lineup remains consistent from the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate a few weeks ago with freshmen Audrey Lam, Mara King and Lillian Guleserian joining sophomores Hannah Rabb and Yaya Jiratthitinun in the starting lineup while fellow sophomore Lauren Thompstone makes her third-straight appearance as an individual.
  • Lam has back-to-back top-15 finishes on her resume and currently leads the team with a 72.33 stroke average through the opening three events this season. Guleserian is second at 73.33.
  • As a team the Nittany Lions are averaging 290 per round this fall and have posted back-to-back top-three finishes winning their home invitational before tying for third in Tennessee two weeks ago.

COURSE & TOURNAMENT OVERVIEW

  • The par-70 layout spans 5,824 yards and features four par-5s along with six challenging par-3s.
  • Opening in 2008, the first-rate golf course winds through stands of stately pines and live oaks and along narrow waterways.
  • This year will mark the seventh time the ODU women’s golf program has hosted a collegiate tournament at the Princess Anne Country Club and this will be the fifth year under the name Evie Odom Invitational.  
  • Tournament namesake Evie Odom made the largest contribution to a women's sport in the history of ODU Athletics. Her support of ODU women’s golf and specifically this tournament gives the team a tremendous boost in their ability to compete nationally.
  • College of Charleston, was the lone squad under par for the week in last year’s event to secure the championship at 2-under, 838, while Furman (15-over), Sacramento State (20-over), Miami (21-over) and Notre Dame (27-over) rounded out the top-5.
  • The Nittany Lions placed 10th last year in the 14-team field while Jiratthitinun finished T-11 at 3-over, 213.

THE FIELD

  • A total of 12 teams and 12 individuals make up the 72-player field set to compete. Penn State is joined by Big Ten foe Maryland in the field.
  • Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Furman, Georgia, James Madison, Richmond, South Alabama, Tennessee, UNC Greensboro and the hosts Old Dominion round out the 2025 field.
