This marks the second career weekly accolade for DiMarsico and the first since November of his freshman year. It is also the third-straight B1G First Star of the Week for the Nittany Lions to open the season as DiMarsico joins his linemates Charlie Cerrato (October 7) and JJ Wiebusch (October 14) who were already honored the first two weeks of the season.
DiMarsico led the Big Ten and ranked second in the nation with six points over the weekend netting his second career hat-trick, and second of the season, in a 5-4 overtime victory on Friday before factoring in each goal with three assists, including a pair of primary helpers, in a 3-0 shutout on Saturday.
The Wexford, Pennsylvania native registered the 17th hat-trick in Penn State history on Friday night marking the third-straight series opener where a Nittany Lion skater has registered three or more goals through the first three weekends of the season. DiMarsico also became the first Nittany Lion all-time to have multiple hat-tricks in the same season and he joins Wiebusch and classmate Aiden Fink as the only Penn State players to have multiple games of three or more goals all-time.
DiMarsico currently ranks tied for third in the Big Ten and fifth in the nation with 11 points while his six goals are tied for second in the nation behind Wiebusch’s seven. The line of Dimarsico, Cerrato and Wiebusch has already accounted for 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points in just six games this season, an average of 2.83 goals and 4.67 points per game.
