UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s gymnastics junior Akseli Karsikas wrapped up competition at the 53rd Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, posting a 20th-place finish in the All-Around on behalf of Finland.
Karsikas, who posted the highest scored floor routine of any Nittany Lion returner from last season, finished 14th on floor in the qualification round posting a 13.566, just outside the cutoff for the qualification for the floor finals.
His 18th-place finish in the All-Around qualifications on Sunday advanced him to the finals yesterday. In the finals, Karsikas scored a 12.766 on floor, 12.366 on pommel, 13.033 on rings, 13.422 on vault, 12.800 on parallel bars, and 12.200 on high bar. His combined 76.598 earned him the 20th-place finish overall.
Former Nittany Lion Sam Zakutney also competed at the games on behalf of Team Canada.
Karsikas returns to Penn State in the coming days to resume training with the Blue and White as the team works towards the start of the 2026 season, looking to repeat as Big Ten Champions.
