UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Maddy Campbell notched her second shutout of the season with an 18-save performance to lead the Nittany Lions to a 5-0 win over Lindenwood.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Six minutes into the game, Matilde Fantin passed it to Tessa Janecke who dropped it to Katelyn Roberts and she shot and scored from the top of the slot to take the lead.
- Three minutes into the second period, Matilde Fantin passed it to Abby Stonehouse on the left offensive zone dot and she shot it top corner to score.
- Six minutes later, Tessa Janecke shot it on net and after a puck battle Mikah Keller slid the puck across the crease to Katelyn Roberts who scored.
- With 4:35 left in the second period, Abby Stonehouse and Nicole Hall won a puck battle on the boards and passed it to Matilde Fantin who shot and scored.
- 22 seconds later, a loose puck bounced off Taylor Lum’s stick to the middle and Kendall Butze shot it from the slot and scored.
GOALTENDERS
- Freshman goaltender Maddy Campbell made her second career start, notching her second career shutout. She made 18 saves including two against breakaways.
- Lindenwood started Catherine Hodgins who made 29 saves on 35 shots in the first 40 minutes before she was pulled for Madison Bowtell. Bowtell made 18 saves in the third period.
STATS AND NOTES
- Katelyn Roberts had two goals in a game for the first time this season and fourth time in her career.
- Roberts now has 77 career points which is second active on the Nittany Lions.
- She is also tied with Maddy Christian for second nationally in game winning goals.
- Tessa Janecke had two assists to bring her within three of 100 career assists.
- Janecke extended her point streak to nine games which is tied with Amy Peterson for the second longest in program history, behind Janecke’s 12-game point streak that ranged from Nov.15, 2024 to Jan. 11, 2025.
- Maddy Campbell posted a career-high 18 saves in the shutout.
- Abby Stonehouse had a goal and an assist for the third multi-point game of her career and first of the season.
- Matilde Fantin dished two assists and had a goal for the second time this weekend.
- She now has the second most points on the Nittany Lions with 12 and is third nationally among freshman.
- The Nittany Lions allowed less than 20 shots on goal for the ninth time this season.
