MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Four different Nittany Lions scored in Penn State’s 4-0 win over Robert Morris for their 11thwin of the season on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just over a minute into the second period, Grace Outwater picked up a loose puck on her offensive blue line and went to her left side, shooting back towards the net and scoring.
- With under three minutes to go in the second and on the power play, Kendall Butze sent a puck to the slot that was deflected back by Tessa Janecke to Katelyn Roberts, who shot and scored.
- Over six minutes into the third period, Grace Outwater took a shot after an offensive zone faceoff win and Mikah Keller buried her rebound to push the Nittany Lion lead.
- With under a minute left and Robert Morris’ goalie pulled, Katelyn Roberts won a puck battle on the boards and chipped it ahead where it was picked up by Tessa Janecke and she beat everyone in a foot race to the empty net to score.
GOALTENDERS
- Senior goaltender Katie DeSa made 15 saves for her fourth shutout of the season and 17th of her career.
- Robert Morris goaltender Maggie Hatch made 34 saves, 17 in the second period.
STATS AND NOTES
- Tessa Janecke extended her point streak to 10 games, the second longest in program history, behind her own 12-game point streak.
- She had a goal and an assist for her 34th career game with at least one goal and one assist.
- She brought her career assist total to 98, looking to become the first Nittany Lion in program history to reach the 100-assist milestone.
- Penn State scored on the power play for the fifth straight game, scoring six goals total.
- Katelyn Roberts scored her sixth goal of the season and has goals in back-to-back games.
- Grace Outwater scored her 10th goal of the season, leading the Nittany Lions.
- She is now tied for third nationally in goals and leads the AHA.
- DeSa is now at 17 career shutouts, bringing her within three of tying Josie Bothun for the program record.
- Mikah Keller scored her third goal of the season and is second among the Nittany Lion freshman in goals.
