UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 16 Penn State women’s volleyball played a nationally-ranked opponent for the eighth time in the first 13 matches of the season as it fell 3-0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-13) to No. 1 Nebraska in a Big Ten match Friday night at Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions are now 7-6 overall and 1-2 in the conference, while the Cornhuskers remained unbeaten at 13-0, 3-0 B1G.
Just three players recorded a kill for Penn State. Kennedy Martin led the team with 11 and tallied two of the team’s three aces. Karis Willow recorded her first-career ace and teamed with Gabrielle Nichols to register her first-career block.
Nebraska hit .437 in the win, getting 26 assists from Bergen Reilly. Middle blocker Rebekah Allick led the way with nine kills on .615 hitting. The senior also had four blocks.
Penn State returns to action Sunday with a Big Ten match at Maryland. That contest is scheduled for 4 p.m. on B1G Network. The Terrapins are 7-6 overall and 0-3 in the conference following losses to Iowa, Nebraska, and Rutgers.
