Evans Earns Big Ten Freshman of the Week Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men’s soccer garnered its first weekly conference recognition this week following a rare three-match week. Redshirt-freshman Jonathan Evans garnered the honors, marking the first of his career.

Evans put on a clinic this past week, allowing one goal in two games and totaling eight saves. In the week, he helped guide PSU to an important conference win over Michigan State, pushing the Nittany Lions back into the conference tournament race. On the season, Evans ranks fourth in the Big Ten in save percentage at 73.5 percent.

Evans and the rest of the Nittany Lions get some much-needed time off before heading west for the team’s first trip to California since realignment added the west coast schools to the Big Ten. The team will take on UCLA on Friday, October 10. Kickoff at is set for 10 p.m. eastern. Action will be streamed live on B1G+.
