BOSTON – The Atlantic Hockey Association named Penn State women’s ice hockey senior Leah Stecker its Defenseman of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. It is the first time Stecker has won the award in her career.
Stecker continued her terrific start to the season with a three-point weekend in Burlington, Vt. She started the weekend with an assist on Penn State’s first goal of the game on Friday. In Saturday’s game she assisted on the fourth goal of the game by Maddy Christian before scoring herself seven minutes into the third.
The Randolph, N.J. native is tied for the lead in points among defenders on the Nittany Lions with five and has recorded a point in three straight games. The senior is also third on Penn State in on-ice rating with a plus-five.
Stecker and the Nittany Lions are back in action this weekend, hitting the road to face Delaware for a two-game series. Game one will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and game two will begin at 2 p.m. Both games will be streamed on FloHockey.
