KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Penn State women’s golf team finished as one of three teams tied for third in the 15-team field at the Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Tennessee at Cherokee Country Club this week.
“This team keeps impressing me with their grit and determination and are continuing to get better every day,” commented head coach Kristen Simpson. “Going 2-under over the final eight holes today was especially impressive.”
The host Volunteers finished nine strokes clear of Oregon State at 13-under to retain their championship while the Nittany Lione tied with Chattanooga and Western Kentucky at 6-over for the week.
Penn State was once again paced by freshman Audrey Lam who was the lone Nittany Lion in red figures for the week finishing tied for 13th at 1-under, 212. Lam opened the week with a 2-under, 69, on Sunday and after a 1-over, 72, on Monday concluded the week with an even-par, 71, on Tuesday.
Sophomore Hannah Rabb finished the week in a tie for 17th following a pair of even-par rounds after opening with a 1-over, 72, for her second-straight top-25 finish.
