Lazzerini earns the honor after a stellar performance vs. Army

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. –  Mariano Lazzerini has been awarded Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced on Wednesday.

The senior standout earned four total wins in last week's win against Army, including two individual victories in the 100 breast, where he swam a 51.52, and the 200 breast, where he posted a dominant 1:53.94.

In addition, he also posted an impressive 23.39 split to help his team earn a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, as well as a 43.39 split to anchor a victory in the 400 free relay.

This marks Lazzerini’s third Big Ten award, previously being crowned Swimmer of the Week last month and Freshman of the Week in his rookie season in 2022.

Lazzerini and the Nittany Lions are set to travel to Columbus next week to compete in the Ohio State Invitational, Nov. 18-21.
