Seven Different Nittany Lions Score in Shutout Win over Syracuse

PSU extends their shutout streak to four games.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. –  The Nittany Lions started fast with a goal just 24 seconds into the opening frame and cruised to a 7-0 home win over Syracuse on Friday afternoon at Pegula Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After retrieving a puck in the defensive zone after the opening faceoff of the game, Kendall Butze passed to to Tessa Janecke who skated the length of the ice before shooting it. Katelyn Roberts was nearby to clean up the rebound and score just 24 seconds into the contest.
  • Just over two minutes later and on the power play, Janecke skated the length of the ice again and tucked the puck just below the cross bar to make it 2-0. The goal was originally not called but after an official review it was put on the board.
  • About 10 minutes later, still in the first period, Kendall Butze passed it to Katelyn Roberts on the power play, who found Danica Maynard below the dot and she shot and scored.
  • Under two minutes into the third period, Nicole Hall and Matilde Fantin passed it between each other before passing it to Leah Stecker who danced up the boards and found room for a top corner shot.
  • Not much later in the third, Abby Stonehouse forced a turnover in the Syracuse zone during a breakout and took it on net herself to score.
  • Over the halfway mark of the frame, Grace Tullock passed it to Mikah Keller on the breakout and she chipped it up the boards to Grace Outwater who shot it and eventually buried her own rebound on the fastbreak.
  • Three minutes later, Sophie Morrow took a shot from the point on the power play that hit Grace Outwater in the chest and it popped right to Matilde Fantin who scored on the open net.
