UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 10 Penn State women’s cross team, along with Nick Sloff of the men’s team, were officially announced NCAA Cross Country Championship qualifiers the NCAA on Saturday evening.
The 10th-ranked Nittany Lion women finished third in Friday afternoon’s NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional meet. The team narrowly missed out on the automatic qualifying spot, but earn an at-large bid to this year’s championship meet based on points accumulated and head-to-head wins this season. The team will travel to the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the third season in a row, making their 26th overall NCAA Championships appearance. The Nittany Lions placed four on All-Region teams, while getting personal bests from five of seven runners.
Nick Sloff put together the best 10K of his collegiate career in Friday’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships, running a personal best 29:37.0, breaking the 30-minute mark for the first time. His sixth-place finish booked his spot in the NCAA Championships as he was next-highest finisher from a non-automatic qualifying team. Sloff makes it back-to-back years that the men’s team has an individual qualifier after Brian DiCola did it last year for the first time since 2017.
