BOSTON – After a weekend road sweep, Tessa Janecke and Danica Maynard each were announced as Atlantic Hockey America players of the week on Tuesday afternoon. Janecke earned her second Forward of the Week nod this season while Maynard earned a third Defenseman of the Week nod.
Janecke posted five points over the two games, scoring two goals and dishing three assists with seven shots on goal. Her goal on Saturday tied the program’s all-time career goal record as her 74th. The forward also posted a team-high +4 on ice rating while blocking two shots. Janecke also won 44 of her 52 faceoffs.
Danica Maynard continued her stellar rookie season, winning her third Defenseman of the Week honor. She led all Nittany Lions defenders with three points this weekend, all coming in game two to lift PSU over RIT 4-3. Her second goal of the game stood as the game winner. Maynard is now tied for the team-lead in plus/minus at +23 and assists at 14.
Janecke, Maynard and the Nittany Lions are back on the road this weekend for a non-conference series at Northeastern. Friday’s game is at 3:30 p.m. and will be streamed on NESN from historic Matthews Arena in Boston, Mass.
