Diving Kicks Off Day One Of Dual Meet Against Army With Strong Performance

Swimming to compete on Friday in second day of two-day dual meet

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Penn State diving team kicked off its dual meet against Army with a strong showing at Crandall Pool on Thursday, November 6.

The victory was led by strong performances by both the men’s and women’s teams. On the men’s side, Alex Reese won the 1-meter dive with a score of 299.70, while Jack Oliver took second with a score of 291.53. Oliver also placed second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 313.05 and was the highest-scoring Nittany Lion in the event. Danny McGaughey followed with a third-place finish, with a score of 299.78, and Reese placed fourth, posting a score of 293.55.

On the women’s side, Kailey Koval swept both events for the Nittany Lions. Her winning score for the 1-meter dive was 285.23, while her winning score for the 3-meter dive was 314.55. Abby Ekstrom also placed in the 3-meter dive, finishing third with a score of 290.10, while Elizabeth Pucci-Schaefer placed third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 267.45.

This is the second victory of the season for the diving squad, following a victory against St. Bonaventure and a strong performance against Yale.

The swim team is set to take on the Black Knights at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 7, on the second day of the meet.
