Ioane on second team; Allen on third team

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Redshirt junior offensive lineman Olaivavega Ioane and senior running back Kaytron Allen were recognized as All-Americans by the Associated Press on Monday. Ioane was a second-team selection, while Allen picked up third-team honors.

 

Allen is the 159th Nittany Lion (193rd selection) to be named an All-American by an NCAA-recognized outlet (AFCA, Associated Press, FWAA, The Sporting News, Walter Camp Football Foundation).

 

Ioane earned his second All-American nod this year. He was recognized as a second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on December 13.

 

Penn State has had an All-American in 53 of the last 59 years. The Nittany Lions have an All-American selection in each of the last five seasons.

  • On a 3-yard rush in the fourth quarter against Nebraska, Allen (4,180) became the all-time career rushing yards leader at Penn State, passing Evan Royster (3,932; 2007-10). On the day, Allen also moved past Saquon Barkley (3,843; 2015-17).
  • Against Rutgers, Allen became the 23rd Big Ten player to reach the 4,000 career rushing yards mark and moved into 18th in Big Ten history.
  • On a 2-yard rush against Nebraska, Allen went over the 1,000-rushing yard mark for the season. He now has 1,303 rushing yards in 2025, ranking 11th in a season at Penn State. He sits sixth in the country in rushing yards in 2025.

  • Allen has posted five 100-yard rushing games this season, including four in Big Ten play (144 vs. FIU, 145 at Iowa, 181 at Michigan State, 160 vs. Nebraska, 226 vs. Rutgers), becoming the first Nittany Lion with four 100-yard games against Big Ten opponent since Miles Sanders in 2018.
  • Allen earned his second career 1,000-yard rushing season. He is one of nine Nittany Lions with multiple 1000-yard rushing seasons and joins Nicholas Singleton as two of eight current FBS players with multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons.
  • After a rushing touchdown against Rutgers, Allen ranks third all-time at Penn State in both rushing touchdowns (39) and total touchdowns (43).
  • Sits fifth all-time at Penn State with 4,711 career all-purpose yards.
  • Against Indiana, became Penn State’s all-time leader in career rushing attempts and against Michigan State, became the 35th Big Ten player since 1956 to reach 700 career attempts.
  • Leads current FBS players with 4,180 career rushing yards and ranks third with 39 career rushing touchdowns.
  • Sits first in the FBS in yards per carry in the fourth quarter (8.2; min. 50 carries) and yards per carry on first down (7.9; min. 90 carries).

  • Rushed for 144 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown, against FIU.

  • Posted a career-high 28 carries for 145 yards and two touchdowns at Iowa.
  • Rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns at Michigan State. Had runs of 42 and 26 yards in the fourth quarter, while averaging 7.2 yards per carry for the game.
  • Tallied 160 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries against Nebraska, including a 50-yard run. He scored on runs of 3 and 13 yards.
  • Rushed for a career-high 226 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries at Rutgers, including runs of 55, 43 and 50 yards. His 226 yards are PSU’s most in a game since Larry Johnson’s 279 vs. Michigan State in 2002 and the 12th-most in game in program history.

 

Penn State is set to make its 57th postseason appearance when it takes on Clemson in the 2025 Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl on Saturday, December 27. Kickoff is set for noon on ABC.
