Postgame Notes: No. 3/2 Penn State vs. No. 6/5 Oregon

TEAM

  • Penn State is now 3-3 all-time against Oregon.
  • PSU is now 9-8 in overtime games, falling in OT for the first time since a 20-18 loss to Illinois in nine overtimes in 2021.
  • Penn State is now 2-4 in multiple-overtime games.
  • The Nittany Lions played their first overtime game since defeating USC, 33-30, in 2024.
  • Penn State welcomed 111,015 fans, its largest Penn State White Out attendance and second-largest crowd in West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium history.
    • Six of Penn State’s Top 10 largest crowds have attended Penn State White Out games - vs. Ohio State in 2018 (110,889), vs. Iowa in 2023 (110,830), vs. Michigan in 2017 (110,823), vs. Michigan in 2019 (110,669), vs. Washington in 2024 (110,233).
  • The Nittany Lions are 11-7 all-time in full-stadium White Outs.

 

STREAKS

  • Penn State has not allowed a special teams touchdown in 81-straight games, dating back to the start of the 2019 season.

 

OFFENSE

Drew Allar

  • QB Drew Allar threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 42 rushing yards.
  • Allar connected on a 35-yard touchdown pass to Devonte Ross in the fourth quarter as well as a 7-yard touchdown pass again to Ross with just 30 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
  • Allar now has 19 career games with at least two touchdown passes.
  • On the first touchdown pass to Ross, Allar became the fifth Nittany Lion to go over 7,000 career passing yards.
  • Allar had a 20-yard rush in the fourth quarter and finished the night with 42 yards rushing.
  • Allar’s 42 yards rushing give him 629 career rushing yards to move him into sixth all-time among PSU QBs, passing Daryll Clark (619; 2006-09) and Richie Lucas (625; 1957-59).

 

Kaytron Allen

  • RB Kaytron Allen had a team-high 54 rushing yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
  • Allen had 12 rushing attempts, giving him 605 for his career, just one behind Blair Thomas (606; 1985-87, 89) for seventh place at Penn State.
  • Allen’s 4-yard rushing touchdown in overtime gives him 28 career rushing touchdowns.
  • Allen has a rushing touchdown in all four games this season.

 

Devonte Ross

  • WR Devonte Ross hauled in a 35-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, followed by a 7-yard touchdown grab late in the fourth quarter. Ross now has 17 career receiving touchdowns.
  • Ross’s two receiving touchdowns marked his third career game with multiple receiving touchdowns.
  • With a reception in the first quarter, Ross has a catch in 23-straight games, dating back to October 28, 2023 at Texas State (while at Troy).
  • With the 35-yard catch, Ross now has 23 career receptions of 20+ yards.

 

DEFENSE

 

Team

  • Penn State forced a turnover on downs in the first quarter and again at the end of regulation. It marked PSU’s fourth and fifth fourth-down stops this season.

 

Dani Dennis-Sutton

  • DE Dani Dennis-Sutton tallied a career-high seven tackles. He had recorded six tackles on four previous occasions, the last vs. Notre Dame in the 2025 Orange Bowl.

 

Amare Campbell

  • LB Amare Campbell recorded seven tackles in the first quarter, 11 tackles in the first half and finished the game with a career-high 15 stops. His previous career high was nine earlier this season vs. FIU.
  • Campbell’s 15 tackles are Penn State’s most since Zakee Wheatley’s 16 stops against Notre Dame in the 2025 Orange Bowl.

 

A.J. Harris

  • CB A.J. Harris tallied five tackles in the first half and finished the game with seven tackles, tying his career high. He had seven tackles last year vs. Oregon in the Big Ten Championship Game.

 

Zion Tracy

  • CB Zion Tracy recorded a solo tackle for loss in the fourth quarter. It was his fourth career tackle for loss.
  • Tracy tied a career high with five tackles. He had five tackles vs. Washington in 2024.

 

Zakee Wheatley

  • S Zakee Wheatley notched eight tackles in the first three quarters and finished the game with 10 stops, his third career game with 10+ tackles.

 

SPECIAL TEAMS

 

Ryan Barker

  • K Ryan Barker hit a 49-yard field goal, matching a career long. He also hit a 49-yard field goal against Maryland in 2024.
  • Barker improved to 10-of-12 on field goals of 40+ yards in his career.
  • Barker moved to 25-of-29 on career field goal attempts and 63-of-64 on career extra points.

 

Gabriel Nwosu

  • P Gabriel Nwosu averaged 44.8 yards on five punts.
  • He booted a 55-yard punt in the first quarter, his third punt of 50+ yards this season.
  • Nwosu hit a 41-yard punt to the Oregon 10 in the second quarter, his sixth punt inside the 20 and fourth punt inside the 10 this season.
