No. 4 Penn State completes season sweep of Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 4 Penn State women’s ice hockey team clinched another conference road win over Syracuse with a score of 3-2 at Tennity Ice Pavilion. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Splitting the defense, Syracuse’s Kinsler fought a near save from the Nittany Lions, notching a rebound shot to put them up 1-0 on the board.
  • Grace Outwater, positioned directly in front of the net, slotted a quick backhand shot to set the game even on the ice, assisted by Mikah Keller and Kendall Butze.
  • With eight minutes remaining in the first, Tessa Janecke jumped on a power play opportunity, opening up the chance for another assist by Keller.
  • Five minutes into the second period, Syracuse came back for revenge, tying up the contest 2-2 on a power play goal from D’Arcy.
  • Retaking the lead on the ice, Janecke slotted a Nittany Lion goal with just five minutes remaining in the second period to put Penn State up 3-2.

 

GOALTENDERS

  • Penn State’s freshman netminder Maddy Campbell recorded 31 saves for a Nittany Lion win.
  • Syracuse goaltender Ava Drabyk made 34 saves in the contest.

  • Tessa Janecke is making moves, currently on a six game point streak. This marks her 14th two-goal game throughout her career
  • Grace Outwater has hit the board repeatedly, scoring in all four games against Syracuse this season.

  • Micah Keller marked her first multi-assist game of her career with two.
