DiMarsico paced the nation with four goals during the sweep of the Irish including his third hat-trick of the season in a 4-1 victory on Friday night. He potted the game-winning goal in each contest over the weekend after adding his fourth goal of the series on the powerplay in the finale on Saturday.
DiMarsico is the first Nittany Lion to register multiple hat-tricks in a single season as Penn State now has five on the year and 20 overall. The three goals mark his third multi-goal effort of the season and the fifth of his career while it was his sixth multi-point effort this season and the 18th of his career.
DiMarsico now leads the team in goals (14) and points (26) while his 14 goals are tied for second in the Big Ten and eighth in the nation.
McKenna led all players nationally over the weekend with five points on two goals and three assists in the series sweep over Notre Dame. He collected a pair of assists in a 4-1 win on Friday before securing a career-best three points (2G, 1A) including his first career multi-goal game in a 6-3 victory on Saturday.
McKenna registered his seventh and eighth multi-point games of the season and is now riding a three-game point streak with points in six of his last seven games played. The rookie leads the Nittany Lions with 14 points (3G, 11A) in 12 Big Ten games this season, a mark good for sixth in conference only scoring.
McKenna’s 24 points on the season are good for second in the Big Ten and tied for fifth in the nation among freshmen while his 18 assists lead all Big Ten rookies and are good for third nationally.
