Baseball’s Loosli Named To NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award Watch List

Nittany Lion senior made 22 appearances in 2025

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State baseball senior right-handed pitcher Dimond Loosli was tabbed to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Award watch list on Tuesday.

 

Loosli made 22 appearances on the mound last season, picking up five wins. He posted a 3.82 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 33 innings.

 

The senior recorded 13 outings going 1+ inning and allowing no earned runs in 2025. He had 11 appearances with multiple strikeouts.

 

In conference action, the California native appeared in 13 games and claimed two wins. Loosli collected 15 strikeouts in 19.1 innings.

 

In the Big Ten Tournament, Loosli’s contributions made a big impact in getting the Nittany Lions to the semifinals. He threw 1.1 scoreless innings and struck out two batters vs. Washington and fired 2.1 shutout frames and secured two strikeouts to earn the win.

 

Penn State finished the 2025 season with a 33-23 record, posting its second-most wins in a season. PSU reached the 30-win mark for the first time since 2011.

 

The Nittany Lions made another strong run in the Big Ten Tournament, reaching the semifinals in back-to-back years for the first time since 2000-01.

 

In Big Ten play, PSU won five Big Ten series in a season for the first time since 2012 and won three Big Ten road series for the first time since 2012. Its 15 Big Ten wins were its most since 2012 (not counting a Big Ten-only schedule in 2021).
