UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 4 Penn State women’s ice hockey bounced back from their first home loss of the season to defeat RIT 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Just under nine minutes minutes into the game Kendall Butze took a shot on the power play and Abby Stonehouse jammed in the rebound to put the Nittany Lions up 1-0.
- Two minutes later, Sophie Morrow took a shot from the point that was tipped by Grace Outwater in the slot to push the Nittany Lion lead to two.
- Just over the halfway mark of the second period, Ireland Stein led a 2-on-1 down the ice and took a shot that found its way through Katie DeSa.
- Five minutes later, RIT’s Fahrny found Stein in the slot on the power play and she took a shot through a screen to knot the game at two.
- With just over two minutes to go in the second, Kendall Butze intercepted a breakout pass and walked into the slot and took a shot to give PSU a 3-2 lead.
- Less than 30 seconds into the third period, Mikah Keller found Grace Outwater on a 2-on-1 and she took a shot that led to a rebound that Maddy Christian jammed in after trailing the play.
GOALTENDERS
- Penn State senior goaltender Katie DeSa made 20 saves.
- RIT goaltender Brenna McNamara made 35 saves.

- Maddy Christian extended her point streak to nine games, she has 12 points in that span.
- After posting a +2 on ice rating today, Maddy Christian is now tied for fourth nationally in plus/minus with a +40.
- Katelyn Roberts notched her 100th career point on Abby Stonehouse’s first period goal.
- Roberts is now the sixth player in program history to reach the century mark.
- Kendall Butze led all scorers with three points.
- She now has three games this season with three or more points, and six in her career.
- After posting a +2 on ice rating today, Maddy Christian is now tied for fourth nationally in plus/minus with a +40.
- Grace Outwater had a goal and an assist for the ninth time this season and 10th time in her career.
- With her goal, she now sits alone at fourth nationally with 24 goals this season.
