ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior Reese Laubach (San Jose, Calif.) was named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week following his performances over the weekend in Ann Arbor as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.
Laubach earns his first weekly accolade of the season and the fourth of his career as Penn State has now seen eight different players earn weekly accolades on 13 separate occasions so far this season.
Laubach paced the Big Ten with three goals and four points over the weekend registering a pair of multi-point games. Laubach netted the first goal of the weekend just 58 ticks into the opening game before adding the primary assist on the game-tying goal late in the third period as Penn State tied No. 2 Michigan 4-4 on Friday night.
Laubach then scored twice in a loss on Saturday marking his second multi-goal effort of the season and the sixth of his career. The junior has now scored in four of his last five games with five goals over that span.
The San Jose, California native ranks sixth on the team in scoring with 21 points on nine goals and 12 assists in 28 games and is approaching 100 career games, currently sitting at 98.
Penn State returns home this weekend to battle Ohio State on Friday at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday and 8 p.m. Both games will air nationally on the B1G Network.
