UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State wrestling’s Cole Mirasola and Marcus Blaze swept Big Ten Wrestling honors for the week ending Feb. 15, 2026. Mirasola was named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week and Blaze was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The duo claimed Penn State’s eighth and ninth weekly awards this year.
Mirasola capped off Penn State's rousing 36-5 rout of No. 2 Ohio State on Friday night with a thrilling 4-1 sudden victory decision over No. 3 Nick Feldman at 285. Mirasola battled Feldman through a scoreless first period. He gave up an escape to start the second and forced the Buckeye into a first stall warning with constant offensive pressure in the middle period. Mirasola escaped to start the third period to knot the bout at 1-1, sending it to sudden victory. He brought an NCAA and Penn State indoor wrestling crowd record 16,006 fans to their feet with a takedown in extra time to post the 4-1 (sv) win. Mirasola is now 13-4 overall on the year with four pins, three techs and a major.
Blaze helped kickstart Penn State's dominant win over the Buckeyes with a thrilling 3-2 (TB) win over No. 2 Ben Davino at 133. Blaze battled Davino through a scoreless first period and then trailed 1-0 after the second when Davino notched an escape to start the middle period. Blaze tied the bout with an escape of his own in the third to send the match to extra time. The sudden victory period was scoreless. Davino escaped in just :09 in the first tie-breaker period. Blaze, unable to escape that quickly in his TB stanza, thrilled the record-setting crowd by reversing Davino with :14 on the clock and riding him out for the 3-2 (TB) win. Blaze is now 18-0 on the year with four pins, six tech falls and five majors.
Mirasola and Blaze’s victories were two of nine for Penn State in the win, which clinched the 2026 Big Ten Regular Season Championship for Penn State, the school's sixth straight and 12th overall (all since head coach Cael Sanderson's arrival).
Penn State is now 14-0 overall and closes out the Big Ten dual schedule at 8-0. The Lions have one dual meet left before the post season, hosting Princeton next Friday night at 7 p.m. in Rec Hall.
