UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – This week four Penn State women’s ice hockey players are set to begin play at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games. Three current players, Tessa Janecke (USA), Nicole Hall (Sweden), and Matilde Fantin (Italy) and one alum, Jessica Adolfsson (Sweden) will all begin preliminary round play on Thursday, Feb. 5.
Nicole Hall and Jessica Adolfsson both rejoin Sweden with over 50 games of combined experience in international competition and will play first at 6:10 a.m. ET against Germany on Thursday. Matilde Fantin and the host team, Italy, will play next, with puck drop set for 8:40 a.m. ET on Thursday against France. Lastly, Tessa Janecke and Team USA will begin their quest for gold at 10:40 a.m. ET on Thursday against Czechia.
Each team will play four preliminary round games on Feb. 5-10 before the quarterfinals begin on Feb. 13. The Nittany Lion skaters will play in some notable preliminary round match ups, beginning with linemates Nicole Hall and Matilde Fantin facing off against each other on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 8:40 a.m. ET. Then, Tessa Janecke and Team USA will face Canada in another edition of their storied rivalry on Tuesday, Feb. 10. at 2:40 p.m. ET.
