ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Big Ten Conference office announced on Tuesday afternoon that Penn State’s Delaney Radin earned the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and Rocquette Allen secured her third consecutive Big Ten Freshman of the Week.
This is Radin’s first Big Ten weekly honor of her career and is the first time that a Penn State player has won the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor this season. The last time that a Nittany Lion was given the accolade was Gretchen Gilmore in 2024. Radin had a historic game dishing out the ball on Wednesday afternoon. The junior attacker led the offensive effort with an astounding nine points and tied the program record with eight assists, a record originally set by Marsha Florio against Princeton in 1985. Her eight assists tied the NCAA single-game-high this season with Allison Reilly of Army West Point and Alexis Morton of Richmond. Radin now has the two-highest single-game assist totals in the Big Ten this season alongside the first game of the year against Richmond, in which she had six assists. Her nine points tied Madison Taylor and Emma Bradbury for the highest single-game points total in the Big Ten this season and tied for the 11th-highest single-game total in the NCAA. In Sunday's game to give Penn State its first 8-0 start since, she tied her career-high with two goals and added another assist to her already astounding season total. In her electric start to the 2026 season, Radin has already set new career-highs for most goals, assists, points, shots, shots on goal, free position shots and free position goals that she’s had in a single-season. Her 26 assists on the year have more than doubled her previous combined total in 17 less games and has nearly doubled her combined point total with 37 points this season.
Allen has now earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors for three consecutive weeks, the first player to do so since Northwestern’s Taylor. The freshman from Lone Tree, Colorado continued the stellar start to her career with another spectacular pair of showings. The reigning freshman of the week drew the toughest defensive assignments in both games and faced constant slides towards her. Despite that, Allen was still able to score a pair of goals in each game, shooting an efficient 80% between her two showings and still leads the Nittany Lions’ offense in goals scored. Along with her spectacular shooting, the Colorado native also picked by two ground balls in both games, the fifth and sixth time she’s done so this season and caused a turnover that led to a Penn State goal against Colgate. She currently leads the Nittany Lions with 22 goals on the year, the fourth highest in the Big Ten this year and the most by Power Four conference freshman. Her 29 points are most by any freshman in the Big Ten, the 10th-most by any Big Ten player.
Penn State will have its Big Ten opener on Thursday, March 12th in Los Angeles against the USC Trojans with first draw slated at 9 p.m. Eastern. Fans can watch the game on B1G+. The Nittany Lions return home on Sunday, March 15th to take on the No. 19/22 Princeton Tigers at 12 p.m. for the team’s Pink Game. The venue for Sunday’s game will be announced on social media prior to the contest.
