TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Penn State men’s golf team concludes their spring break trip down south on Sunday through Tuesday at The Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
SETTING THE STAGE
- This week’s tournament field is compiled of 21 teams with the Nittany Lions as the lone representation from the Big Ten.
- The host Seminoles are joined by Arkansas State, Southern Miss, Southern Illinois, Florida Atlantic, Stetson, North Alabama, Loyola Maryland, Lipscomb, Jacksonville State, Western Kentucky, Ball State, Boston College, Troy, Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay, De Paul, Francis Marion, USC Upstate and Colgate to round out the field.
- The Par-72, 7,509-yard Seminole Legacy Golf Club, formerly known as Don Veller Seminole Golf Course, recently completed a comprehensive renovation of its golf facilities under the direction of the Nicklaus Design company.
- The scope of the renovation includes a complete redesign of the golf course, with only one hole remaining from the original routing. All tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, greens and cart paths are new.
- Sunday and Monday will feature one 18-hole round with split tee times of No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. for the morning wave and 12:30 p.m. for the afternoon wave followed by a single round on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. off holes #1, #7, #10 and #16

THE TEAM
- The lineup remains consistent from earlier in the week in Georgia with just one change as freshman Nick Werner slots back in for the first time since the Moraine Intercollegiate back in October replacing Will Preston while Alex Creamean, Jackson Saroney, Andres Barraza and Tim Peters round out the five for the week.
- Creamean remains the Nittany Lion leader this season with a 70.55 stroke average through 20 rounds.
- Saroney is coming off his best finish relative to par at the Johnnie-O where he finished the week 5-under, 211. Saroney is second on the team with a 72.30 stroke average while Barraza isn’t far off averaging 73.00. The trio has played in each event this season and all 20 rounds.
- As a team, Penn State is averaging 287.75 per round this season.
