TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Penn State men’s golf team battled some inclement weather on their way to a top-5 finish at The Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State at the Seminole Legacy Golf Club this week.
The Nittany Lions remained consistent firing three-straight rounds of 9-over, 297, to finish the week 27-over and tied for fifth in the 21-team field after moving up two spots on Tuesday.
The host Seminoles took the crown as the lone team under par for the week at 8-under while Southern Mississippi (12-over), Stetson (17-over), Arkansas State (22-over) and Lipscomb (27-over) tying Penn State rounded out the top-5.
Alex Creamean paced the Nittany Lions with another top-20 finished tying for 14th in the 112-player field at 3-over, 219, following a final round even-par, 72.
Andres Barraza carded Penn State’s lone round in red figures for the week with a 1-under, 71, highlighted by an Eagle on the Par-4 12th-hole, in the second round and concluded play in a tie for 31st at 7-over, 223.
Tim Peters joined Barraza in a tie for 30th following rounds of 74-74-75.
Jackson Saroney also finished in the top half of the field in a tie for 40th at 10-over, 226, as he sandwiched a 78 between a pair of 74’s for the week.
Will Preston, playing as an individual, and Nick Werner rounded out the scoring for the week at 23-over and 29-over, respectively.

The Nittany Lions have the next month off before concluding their regular-season with their home invitational, The Rutherford Intercollegiate, on April 18-19 at the Penn State Blue Course.
