Men’s Tennis Prepares to Face Purdue and No. 62 Indiana This Weekend

The Nittany Lions set for two Big Ten road matches

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State men’s tennis team is preparing to travel to West Lafayette, Ind., on Friday, March 20, to face Purdue at 4 p.m. The Nittany Lions will then travel to Bloomington, Ind., to take on No. 62 Indiana on Sunday, March 22, at noon. 

 

The Nittany Lions are coming off a 4-3 loss against No. 44 Michigan last Sunday in their most recent match. Sophomore David Lindsay had an impressive singles set, beating his opponent 6-4, 6-1. Freshmen Kyle Chesman and Eyal Shyovitz followed suit, winning their singles sets and getting three points on the board for the Nittany Lions. Penn State is now 12-6 on the season. 

 

 

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION 

 

The Boilermakers hold a 4-9 record for the season. Penn State owns a 22-18 all-time advantage over Purdue. Purdue won last season’s matchup 4-0.  

 

Indiana currently owns a 7-6 record this season and will face No. 5 Ohio State before the Sunday matchup against Penn State. The Hoosiers have a 24-12 all-time advantage over the Nittany Lions and earned a 4-1 victory when the teams met last season.

The Nittany Lions will return home for another Big Ten weekend when they host No. 55 Northwestern on Friday, March 27, at 5 p.m., and No. 10 Illinois on Sunday, March 29, at 10 a.m.
