UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Freshman Marcus Blaze and sophomore Allie Meyer of wrestling and women’s lacrosse, respectively, have each been recognized as the February Student-Athletes of the Month, as announced by the Morgan Academic Center (MAC) and PSU’s academic services staff.
A 133-pounder, Blaze impressed on the mat in his first season with the Nittany Lions, becoming one of eight All-Americans for the 2026 National Champion wrestling program following a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in Cleveland. The Perrysburg, Ohio, native turned in a 25-3 overall record in his first season at PSU, logging a 15-0 record in dual meets with an undefeated 8-0 mark against Big Ten competition during the regular season. Blaze amassed 20 victories during the 2025-26 season in bonus-point fashion and added a runner-up finish at the 2026 Big Ten Championships inside the Bryce Jordan Center to round out a strong rookie campaign. Blaze owns a 3.68 GPA as a Business major.
Meyer, hailing from West Chester, Pennsylvania, has appeared in three games during Penn State’s undefeated month of February and twice more in wins over Colgate and San Diego State. The sophomore midfielder collected a ground ball against the University of Massachusetts and in a win over the Colgate Raiders during the 2026 season. In a dominant win over Drexel, she caused a turnover and in a 12-goal win versus Bucknell, she won a draw control. During her freshman season in 2025, Meyer recorded her first career point off an assist against the Bison and notched a caused turnover, a trio of ground balls, and four draw controls throughout the season. She currently boasts a 3.98 GPA as a Business Administration major.
The MAC Student-Athletes of the Month (SAOTM) are students who exemplify the PSU values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Community as well as the Athletics values of Tradition, Teamwork, Diversity, Innovation, and Resilience. At least one female and one male student-athlete will be selected each month, and those students must be in good academic standing, demonstrate strong accountability, and be an example of the leadership on campus and in their community. They are nominated and selected by the Penn State academic services staff.
