Nittany Lions Wrap Up Day One at Raleigh Relays

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State began its split-squad weekend as it wrapped up day one of the Raleigh Relays Thursday.

The men’s 1500-meter run saw two Nittany Lions set personal bests: Jacob Smith finished at 3:49.50, while Jake Borgesi clocked a 3:51.79. Smith placed 108th, barely missing the Top 100 in the 257-man field.

The men’s 3000-meter steeplechase featured two noteworthy performances by Nittany Lions, both in the same heat. Tyler Rader turned in a strong showing at 8:56.61, finishing second in his heat and 26th in the 80-man field. Logan Strawser ran a personal-best 8:58.28, third in his heat and 27th overall.

The Nittany Lions will have a busy Friday across two meets, continuing the Raleigh Relays and beginning the Knights Invite in Orlando, Florida. The latter event begins at 10 a.m., while the former starts at 10:45 a.m.
