UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State swimming senior Mariano Lazzerini has earned Second-Team All-American honors from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America following his stellar performance at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships on March 25-28.
Lazzerini takes home the award for his 12th place finish in the 100 breast at the NCAA Championships with a 51.41 time. His finish marks the highest placement in the event in Penn State Swimming and Diving history.
Additionally, Lazzerini competed in the 200 breast, finishing 19th overall with a time of 1:52.48, the best finish in program history since at least 1990. The Chile native was also a part of the 200 medley and 400 medley relay squads that competed at the NCAA Championships, along with Cooper Morley, Matthew Bittner, and Tylor Kim. The 200 medley relay team finished 19th overall at a 1:23.38 pace, Penn State's best at the NCAA Championships since 2014, while the 400 medley group finished 24th with a 3:05.71 time.
