UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State men’s tennis team is preparing for its last weekend of regular-season play. The Nittany Lions will travel to face No. 61 Nebraska on Friday, April 17, at 6 p.m. ET and then to No. 33 Wisconsin on Sunday, April 19, at 11:30 a.m.
Penn State wrapped up home competition last weekend with a 2-1 showing. The Nittany Lions defeated Washington 4-3 on Friday night. On Sunday, the team dropped its match against Oregon 2-4, before sweeping St. Bonaventure later in the day, 7-0. The Nittany Lions are 16-11 on the season.
Eyal Shyovitz and Reiya Hattori teamed up on court one and found two doubles victories. They earned a ranked win against No. 40 pair from Oregon, Matthew Burton and Pierre Mouesca. They then defeated Davis Matney and Alex Kim from St. Bonaventure. Shyovitz earned three singles wins throughout the weekend.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The Nebraska men’s tennis team is 10-12 on the season. The Nittany Lions hold the Huskers to an 8-6 all-time advantage. Nebraska won last season’s match 5-2.
The Wisconsin men’s tennis team currently holds a 16-5 record for the season and will face Ohio State before competing against Penn State. Historically, the Nittany Lions are 14-21 against the Badgers. Wisconsin won last season's match 4-3.
