Nittany Lions competing in event for fifth consecutive year

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track & field continues its swing through the Sunshine State when it takes part in the Florida Relays.

The two-day meet, hosted by the University of Florida, begins Friday, April 3 and concludes Saturday, Aprill 4. Both days’ competition will take place at the Florida-Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Florida.

Penn State’s notable results from the 2025 event included Handal Roban taking second overall in the men’s 800-meter run, Nick Sloff claiming fourth in the men’s 1500-meter run and Ada Rand recording a fifth-place finish in the women’s 1500-meter run.

NITTANY LIONS LAST WEEK

The blue and white competed in a pair of meets last weekend: the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina and the Knights Invite in Orlando, Florida, bringing home plenty of medals and several entries into the program record book.

At the Knights Invite, two Nittany Lions turned in performances that would earn Big Ten recognition. Ajani Dwyer won the men’s 100-meter dash with a 9.96, the top spot on the NCAA qualifying list and earning the Big Ten Men’s Track Athlete of the Week award.

Marie-Éloïse LeClair shined in her Nittany Lions debut as well. She prevailed in the women’s 100-meter dash (11.08) and 200-meter dash (22.75), also recording the fastest times in the nation across both events. For her performance, LeClair was named Big Ten Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.

Other notable finishes in Orlando included Collin Burkhart, who won the men’s hammer throw with a 217-2.00 (66.19m), Robert Allen, whose 6-11.50 (2.12m) in the high jump gave him second place, and Audrey Friedman, who placed third with a 151-8.00 (46.22m) in the women’s javelin.

At the Raleigh Relays, two Nittany Lions moved into the top 10 in program history for the women’s 10,000-meter run. Charlotte Costich claimed the third-best mark with a 32:57.53, while Claire Daniels holds the fifth-best finish at 33:18.60.

Some other performances at the Raleigh Relays included Rand and Katie Dallas both placing in the top 50 in the women’s 5000-meter run and Sarah Pickering, whose 4:19.55 in the women’s 1500-meter run came in 26thin a field of more than 200 athletes.
