PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Penn State quarterback Drew Allar was selected 76th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the NFL Draft on Friday night.
Allar became Penn State’s 16th quarterback drafted all-time and its fourth since 2016. Allar is PSU’s first quarterback selected since Sean Clifford (5th round, Green Bay Packers, 2023).
With offensive lineman Olaivavega Ioane (14th overall, Baltimore Ravens) and Allar, Penn State has two selections through the first two days of the NFL Draft. It marks Penn State’s ninth-consecutive year with multiple picks in the first two days.
A total of 397 Nittany Lions have been selected all-time in the NFL Draft, which ranks seventh among Division I institutions. Since 2016, Penn State has had 61 players selected, including 28 taken on the first two days of the draft.
With Ioane’s first round selection and Allar’s third round selection, Penn State is one of three schools that has had a player selected among the first three rounds of the NFL Draft in 21-straight years, joining LSU and USC.
Allar is the 30th Nittany Lion to be selected by the Steelers all-time and the first since CB Joey Porter Jr. (2nd round, 2023).
Allar is the first Penn State quarterback to ever be selected by the Steelers in the NFL Draft.
He joins Jaquan Brisker, Pat Freiermuth, Daequan Hardy and Porter as former Nittany Lions on the Steelers roster.
