Women's Golf Finishes Eighth at Terps Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md.  – Sophomore Hannah Rabb paced Penn State to an eighth-place finish in the 16-team field at the second-annual Terps Invitational this week finishing tied for sixth in the 90-player field.

Rabb bookended the event with a pair of 1-under, 71’s, with a 76 sandwiched between to card a 2-over, 218, for the week and earn her best Nittany Lion finish at T-6, her second top-10 of the season and the sixth of her career.

As a team the Nittany Lions had their best round of the week on Monday firing a 10-over, 298, as a team finishing the week 37-over, 901.

Virginia secured the championship with a 4-under finish two strokes clear of Kentucky as the lone teams in red figures for the week while Maryland (21-over), High Point (23-over) and Wisconsin (24-over) rounded out the team scores.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Lauren Thompstone registered the best finish of her career placing 13th at 4-over, 220, following a 1-under, 71, in Monday’s final round.

Freshman Audrey Lam slide a bit in the final round after carding 7-over, 79, following a pair of 73’s on Sunday. The rookie still finished the week tied for 28th at 9-over, 225.

Freshman Mara King and sophomore Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun rebounded nicely on Monday climbing 13 and 11 spots in the final round following rounds of 2-over and 3-over, respectively, to finish the week tied for 43rd and 63rd.

Freshman Lillian Guleserian rounded out the scoring a 23-over for the tournament.

Penn State has the next few weeks off before heading west for the B1G Championships on April 24-26 at Oakmont Country Club in Glendale, California.
