UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State baseball team plated multiple runs in each of the first three innings on its way to an 11-5 victory over FDU on Tuesday evening at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Michael Anderson and Bryce Molinaro each collected three hits, including a double and a triple.
Penn State improved to 9-21 on the season, while FDU dropped to 19-10.
The Nittany Lions improved to 2-0 on Dollar Dog Nights in 2026 and hold a 12-5 record over 17 Dollar Dog Nights since 2023. PSU welcomed 2,014 fans who consumed 4,765 hot dogs, bringing the 17-game total to 85,616.
Mason Horwat earned the start on the mound for Penn State, working 1.2 innings. He allowed three runs on three hits. Horwat recorded three strikeouts and three walks. Frankie Sanchez threw 1.1 innings, giving up one run on one hit, while notching a strikeout and a walk.
PSU’s bullpen held FDU scoreless over the final five innings, allowing just one hit and one walk, while striking out six.
Harrison Lollin tossed two innings, giving up one run on two hits. He tallied three strikeouts and two walks. Matthew VanOstenbridge worked a scoreless inning and struck out one.
Robert Brown III fired two perfect innings and secured four strikeouts to earn the win. Ethan Bauerschmidt secured a scoreless ninth and struck out one.
Chris Mattioli got the start for FDU, tossing two innings. He allowed eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits. Mattioli registered one strikeout and no walks. Chris Strout threw two innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks. Logan Magdits worked three scoreless innings and allowed three hits. Chris DeMarco allowed one run over an inning of work.
Penn State notched 11 runs on 15 hits. Bryce Molinaro collected a double and a triple among three hits, while adding two RBI and two runs. Michael Anderson also contributed a double and a triple among his three hits, driving in one run and scoring twice. Spencer Barnett and Jayden Davis each drove in two runs. Joey DeMucci had a single, two runs and three steals.
Nine different Nittany Lions recorded a hit and six Nittany Lions registered an RBI. Four Nittany Lions combined to steal six bases.
FDU collected five runs on six hits. Jimmy Mantuano had a hit and two RBI, while Hunter Ray and Jeremy Delamota both had RBI doubles.
