Grigoras earns prestigious accolade for combined academic & athletic success

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women’s tennis sophomore Patricia Grigoras has been named an Academic All-District selection by College Sports Communicators (CSC), as announced on Tuesday.

The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for combined performance in the classroom and on the field, requiring at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and elite athletic standing.

Grigoras owns an impressive 3.77 cumulative GPA as a psychology major. She earned second-team All-Big Ten honors this season in her highly-successful sophomore campaign. The Middle Village, N.Y. native also earned Big Ten All-Freshman honors a season ago during her rookie campaign.

Grigoras compiled a 7-5 record in Big Ten dual matches across the top three courts, mainly court two where her record was 4-3. Notable wins include her first career ranked win against Ohio State’s No. 114 Sophia Cisse-Ignatiev, 6-1, 5-7, [11-9], and her first Big Ten court one win over Rutgers’ Mai Nguyen, 6-0, 7-6 (7-4).  Overall, Grigoras posted a 12-11 singles record in dual matches this spring. In doubles, Grigoras spent a majority of the season in tandem with Maiko Uchijima on court two where the duo went 9-7 in dual matches with four Big Ten wins on court two.
