UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Three Penn State men’s tennis players have been tabbed as Academic All-District selections as David Lindsay, Marcus Schoeman and Michael Wright earned the prestigious honor announced by College Sports Communicators (CSC) on Tuesday.
The CSC Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for combined performance in the classroom and on the field, requiring at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and elite athletic standing.
Lindsay owns a stellar 3.94 cumulative GPA as an electrical engineering major. The sophomore went 17-9 in singles dual matches this spring, competing primarily at No. 4 singles where he compiled a 12-8 mark. Lindsay, a Mill Hall, Pa. native, played in the top flight of doubles for a majority of the spring season, pairing with Michael Wright where the duo went 8-9 on court one.
Schoeman has compiled a 3.69 cumulative GPA as a psychology major. The Brisbane, Australia native saw action in 28 singles dual matches this spring as a mainstay on court two. Schoeman earned 12 singles wins throughout the spring season, seven of which came at No. 2 singles and all 12 of which came in the top three flights. The redshirt sophomore saw action at both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles throughout the spring season.
Michael Wright owns a perfect 4.0 GPA as a graduate student in Penn State’s master of professional studies in psychology of leadership grad program. He compiled a 3.51 cumulative GPA as an undergrad at Cal Berkeley where he majored in legal studies. Wright was Penn State’s top singles player this spring, playing 26 of his 27 dual matches at No. 1 singles. Wright, a Berkeley, Calif. native, played in the top flight of doubles for a majority of the spring season, pairing with David Lindsay where the duo went 8-9 on court one.
