UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State is set to compete in a premier women’s volleyball event this fall. The Nittany Lions join Florida, Nebraska, and SMU for Spikes Under the Lights, a first-of-its-kind showcase at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, in Arlington, Texas on August 27.
In a first for the sport, the inaugural event will feature a $1 million prize pool – the largest ever awarded in women’s college sports. It is set to air on a major television network to be announced at a later date.
The event will feature a single-night competition format with two semifinal matchups followed by a championship final, all played in a best-of-three set structure designed for broadcast. The showcase will mark the first volleyball event of its kind at AT&T Stadium. The three-hour event will air live at 8 p.m. ET. Semifinal matchups will be announced at a later date.
