Garnett Earns Second-Team All-American Honors; Kitching Qualifies for NCAA 800m Final

EUGENE, Ore -  Sophomore Sasha Garnett earned Second-Team All-American honors in women’s shot put while senior Hayley Kitching placed second overall across all three heats to qualify for Saturday’s women’s 800m final on the second day of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Garnett concluded her outdoor season with a shot put mark of 16.37m (53-8.50) to place 16th and to earn her first All-American honors of her career. Kitching clocked a sub-2:00 time of 1:59.46 to advance to the national 800m final on Saturday at 9:14 p.m. ET.

Competition continues Friday as senior Niko Schultz and graduate student Allon Clay compete in the NCAA Championships men’s 800m final set to start at 9:14 p.m. ET.
