UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two incoming freshmen for the Penn State men’s volleyball team are returning from Guatemala with gold medals. Drake Foley and Isiah Powell played for the United States team that won the title at the 2026 U21 Pan American Cup.
USA went a perfect 5-0 in the event. That included wins over Dominican Republic (3-0), Venezuela (3-1), and Mexico (3-0) in pool play, a sweep over Costa Rica in the semifinal round, and a sweep over Canada in the championship match.
Powell, a 6-4 libero from Newport Beach, California, and Powell, a 6-8 middle blocker from Silver Spring, Maryland, were named to the USA U21 team for the event after spending a week in Colorado Springs for the National Team Development Program. Luc Soerensen, a 6-8 middle blocker from Meadville, Pennsylvania, was also in Colorado Springs and was an alternate for the U21 team.
