UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State great Matt Anderson led the USA men’s volleyball team to a 3-1 record in the second week of the Volleyball Nations League in Orleans, France. USA is now 6-2 through two weeks of play and sits in second place with 19 points, just one point behind first-place Japan.
The second week saw USA post wins over Cuba (3-0), Iran (3-0), and Serbia (3-1) and drop a five-set match to Japan. Anderson had double-digit kills in each of the final three matches of the week, totaling 15 against Iran, 15 against Japan, and 11 against Serbia. He has recorded double-digit kills five times in the seven matches he played.
After playing matches in Canada and France, USA returns home as its next four matches are scheduled for NOW Arena just outside Chicago. The week three schedule includes China, Brazil, Bulgaria, and Poland.
Anderson was a two-time All-American and one-time National Champion for Penn State from 2006-08. He is a four-time Olympian, winning bronze medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and the 2024 Paris Games.
