Caron Defends Canadian 10,000m Title, Secures Spot on Team Canada

GUELPH, Ontario – Florence Caron ’25, a Penn State track and field alumna, claimed her second consecutive Canadian national 10,000-meter title Wednesday at the Royal City Inferno Track Meet.

Caron posted a championship-record time of 32:44.73, winning by more than a minute and improving on her winning time from last year by more than 30 seconds (33:18.84).

Just a week and a half earlier, Caron crossed the line in 32:31 in her first-ever road 10k to secure the national title by nearly 45 seconds.

With Wednesday’s victory, Caron earned a spot on Team Canada for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, which begin July 23.

Her personal-best time of 32:23.71, set in 2025, met Athletics Canada’s qualifying standard for the event, while Wednesday’s national title officially clinched her selection to represent Canada on the international stage.
